How to read it
Crypto sentiment swings hard: in rallies, investors chase prices for fear of missing out; in sell-offs, they dump in panic. The index compresses several market signals into a single 0–100 number so you can look at sentiment separately from your own decisions.
Extreme fear often means the market is overly worried and has historically appeared near local bottoms; extreme greed means the market is overheated and a pullback deserves caution. The index is a reference only and not investment advice.
What goes into the index
The index weights several dimensions including price volatility, volume and momentum, social activity and Bitcoin dominance. The exact weights and calculation details are as documented by the data endpoint.
