How to read it
The index measures the share of the top 50 altcoins by volume whose 90-day return beat Bitcoin. When 75% or more outperform, the market is in "altcoin season"; when fewer than 25% do, it is "Bitcoin season" and capital is concentrated in Bitcoin.
Use it to watch rotation between Bitcoin and altcoins. It is not investment advice. Sharp rises often appear late in bull markets, when altcoin volatility and drawdown risk are also highest.
FAQ
How often is the index updated?
It is calculated once a day and the sample is selected dynamically by volume.
Why are stablecoins excluded?
Stablecoins are pegged to fiat and have no comparable return, so including them would distort the index.
